Association of Women Leaders in Agriculture and Environment (TAWLAE) is
a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of
underprivileged men, women, and youth around the world.
The purpose of the PROSPER program is the effective reduction of child labour in tobacco-growing areas of Urambo and Sikonge Districts. Immediate objectives include the withdrawal and the prevention of
children 5-17 years old from exploitive, hazardous, and worst forms of
child labor in tobacco growing and that legally working children (15-17) in
non-hazardous work in tobacco growing. The program is 4.5 years initiative based in Tanzania that will work at the national and local levels to reduce or eliminate child labour. The project will be implemented in full coordination with district offices of the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Labour, Youth and Employment, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Community Development.
Job Summary
The Agribusiness Specialist (AS) has the responsibility of economic and livelihood strengthening of project communities through establishing the Model Farm School (MFS) Program that will teach primarily working youth between 15-17 improved good crop husbandry, crop diversification for increased food security, entrepreneurship development, and life skills. S/he is also responsible for identifying in-youth aged 12-14 for attending the Vocational Agriculture part of the after school activities. The AS will liaise with PROSPER Project District Coordinators in identifying Model Farm Trainers (MFT) who will support the project VoAg activities and MFS. S/he is responsible for providing technical expertise and training to improve youth agricultural and entrepreneurial skills and knowledge. At the household level the Agribusiness Specialist is responsible for strengthening the livelihoods of vulnerable families for them to be able to afford to keep their children in school and out of child labour and training the mothers participating in the conditional loan program on business skills.
